1 ISBD
L’ISBD (international standard bibliographical description) est une norme internationale définissant les règles à adopter pour la présentation de la notice bibliographique d’un document (livre, périodique, article, etc.) en différents champs (auteur, titre, éditeur, etc.). Cette norme est élaborée dès 1971 par l’IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations) pour le catalogage des monographies, afin de favoriser l’échange des données bibliographiques à l’échelon international. Suivent plusieurs normes pour les périodiques, les documents anciens, etc. La norme ISBD(ER) est créée en 1997 pour le catalogage des ressources électroniques. Une norme différente de l’ISBD est l’AACR2 (Anglo-American cataloguing rules, 2nd version), couramment utilisée dans le monde anglo-saxon et dans les organisations internationales. -
2 IFLA
Fondé en 1927, l’IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations) est un organisme international représentant les intérêts des bibliothèques et des centres de documentation. Avec 1.700 membres dans 150 pays, cette fédération se veut un carrefour pour l’échange d’idées et la promotion de la coopération internationale et de la recherche. En 1971, l’IFLA élabore l’ISBD (international standard bibliographical description) pour l’échange des données bibliographiques à l’échelon international. Plusieurs normes suivent ensuite, notamment, en 1997, la norme ISBD(ER) pour la description bibliographique des documents électroniques. En 1977, l’IFLA crée le format UNIMARC (universal machine readable cataloguing) afin de disposer d’un format international permettant la conversion des formats MARC (machine readable cataloguing) nationaux. -
3 AACR2
(Anglo-American cataloguing rules, version 2)AACR (Anglo-American cataloguing rules) est une norme de catalogage définissant les règles à adopter pour la présentation de la notice bibliographique d’un document (livre, périodique, article, etc.) en différents champs (auteur, titre, éditeur, etc.). Mise au point par plusieurs organismes (American Library Association, British Library, Canadian Committee on Cataloguing, Library Association [du Royaume-Uni], Library of Congress), la norme en cours est la version 2, AACR2, publiée en 1978 et régulièrement actualisée. Utilisée à l’origine en Amérique du Nord et au Royaume-Uni, cette norme est désormais utilisée dans la majorité des pays anglo-saxons et dans les organisations internationales. Elle est également utilisée pour l’échange des données bibliographiques à l’échelon international, par exemple dans WorldCat, le catalogue mondial géré par OCLC (Online Computer Library Center). Une autre norme internationale est l’ISBD (international standard bibliographical description), créée en 1971 par l’IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations).
